Nashville, TN--Soul Train winner Angie Stone and Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Faith Evans go back to their gospel roots as they join GospelFLAVA.com Presents: Something On The Inside, hitting stores and online retailers October 25, 2010. The inspirational compilation highlights the early influences of Gospel on R&B as some of the most influential artists reveal their heart to share…Something On The Inside.
The relationship between R&B and Gospel is undeniable as the early days of rhythm and blues was indicative of a beginning in the church. As times have changed and we move to the current, the trend remains the same. However, artists are no longer confined to saving their inspiration to the last song on the record or the B Side, as it’s called, but instead can heavily incorporate their faith throughout their career.
R&B’s most popular voices are compiled for an inspirational collection of 12-songs by the likes of R.Kelly and his testimonial “I Surrender”, the Clark Sisters remake “Endow Me” by Coko featuring Fantasia, Lil Mo, and Kelly Price, Ledisi with “Today”, and the queen of Hip-Hop and R&B’s “Testimony”.
Listeners will also enjoy original songs by Faith Evans with “Troubled World” and Angie Stone’s “Favor of God”. Evans is joined by BET’s Sunday Best “runner up” Jessica Reedy and Kelly Price to encourage listeners to “keep their head up”. Slated to be the first single, the head-bobbing tune remains true to each singer as their soulful voices overlay a smooth beat and inspirational lyrics. The hand-clapping, mid-tempo “Favor of God” was co-written by Stone and the simple melody says
“there is nothing more precious, nothing that’s worth more than the favor of God”.
Each singer opens their heart to share Something On the Inside under the foundation of 1 Samuel 16:7 “…for the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
